AVIATION MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

Medical Class 1 / Class II / LAPL / Flight attendants /
Air traffic controllers / Parabolic flights

The Sternmatt Practice offers periodic flight fitness examinations (Medicals) in accordance with the guidelines issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). We are accredited for medical examinations in classes I, II and LAPL, as well as for flight attendants and air traffic controllers by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA). In addition, we perform flight fitness examinations for participants in research-related parabolic flights. The physician Benjamin C. Wronn has also been designated as an external physician of confidence for pilots by SWISS.

Advice for our registration procedure

Because the scope of the examination varies depending on class, age and type of aviation equipment etc., we ask that you contact our practice in advance to discuss these details. It is important that you bring your ID and flight log to the examination in addition to all medically relevant documents such as medical reports, findings and, if you wear glasses or contact lenses, your glasses and contact lenses together with the prescription.

Costs

Pilot examinations are not included in the range of services covered by the statutory insurers. They are billed directly to the pilot based on the scope and complexity of the examination, which can be arranged on the phone prior to the examination. It is usually possible for occupational pilots, flight attendants and skyguides to have the costs charged to their employer.

FOCA

Accreditation for medical examinations of the classes I, II and LAPL, and for flight attendants and air traffic controllers by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA).
